If you have any complications please speak to your doctor before booking your massage appointment. We do not recommend massage appointments within 2 weeks of your due date.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Therapists trained in MLD use specific techniques to manipulate skin and superficial lymph vessels in the skin making lymph flow faster. The pressure varies depending on the condition or location of treatment from very light to moderate. It is pain free, slow, rhythmic movement, that besides the lymph system also stimulates the nervous system encouraging relaxation.
Recommended treatment time is 45 or 60 minutes, most times it is done as weekly treatment or in some instances two, three times per week. The number of sessions varies greatly on the condition that is treated. For example: post surgery swelling can be resolved in just a few sessions where in case of the lymphedema MLD becomes very important in management of the condition.
Indie Head Massage
Based on traditional Indian Head Massage, this treatment focuses on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. Indie head massage is great for stress reduction and can help to reduce tension in the face, neck and shoulders. It may also help to reduce jaw pain, headaches and sinusitis. This treatment is performed with the client lying face up on the massage table. Massage lotion as well as warmed coconut oil is applied throughout the hair and other areas being treated.
*Please note that while this treatment was inspired by traditional Indian Head Massage, it differs in its purpose and techniques. Performed by an RMT, its main function is to relieve muscle tension and reduce physical dysfunction.
Osteopathy
Osteopathic manipulative treatment, or OMT, is the adjustment of joints in the body. This technique can be used on any joint in the body. It is used as one of many techniques when deemed necessary by the osteopath. Often the range of motion of joints can become limited through injury, poor posture, sedentary lifestyle and/or repetitive strain. Adjustment is a quick, easy and harmless way to correct the imbalance.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a complementary, integrative and non-invasive health care modality. A Reflexologist applies an exercise pressure to Reflex Areas where nerve endings and blood capillaries exist in each foot/hand therefore kickstarting the body’s inborn healing mechanisms. It also strengthens the immune system response, relieves the body tension and inflammation being an excellent form of preventive care.
Reflexology is beneficial to patients in any stages of life from pregnancy (after 2nd trimester), infants, children, adults, seniors and palliative care patients.
Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathy, also known as Naturopathic Medicine, is like nature’s healthcare superpower. It’s the best of both worlds, combining traditional healing methods with up-to-date modern medical science. If you are looking for a model of healthcare that addresses the root cause of your health issue or are wanting to prevent disease, the answer is naturopathic medicine.
Having an appointment with a Naturopathic Doctor is similar to seeing your family doctor, in that both are considered primary care physicians and can use the protected title of “Doctor”. Both NDs and MDs are trained in the assessment, diagnosis, history taking, physical examination, and lab testing involved in patient care.
The differences between Naturopathic Doctors and conventional family doctors is the philosophical approach to health and the therapies used. Your family doctor is trained to address and treat the symptoms of disease using pharmaceuticals and/ or surgery. Naturopathic doctors seek to find and treat the cause of the disease. Naturopathic doctors believe that the body is capable of healing itself when given the proper elements needed for physical, environmental, and emotional health.
Infant/ Child Massage Therapy
Please NOTE: Infant massage is for babies between the ages (0-2 years old)
Child massage therapy is for ages (3+ years old)
Do you have trouble with your baby's colic & gas, sleep patterns, or immune system strengthening? It's time to seek out massage therapy for your baby! Infant massage can be beneficial for you and your baby. A nurturing touch can help your baby's well-being, increase healthy parent-infant interaction and develop bonding and communication between the parents/caregiver and the baby. The initial infant massage session will focus on learning how to massage your baby with a Registered Massage Therapist who has completed a training session for infant and child massage. Hands-on massage will be provided for some cases upon request and with your permission.
Child massage is a fantastic method to promote relaxation, alleviate stress, and offer preventive care for the musculoskeletal changes that happen as your child grows. Additionally, massage therapy can reduce tension caused by postural issues. Like with adults, massage therapy for children can effectively address various musculoskeletal issues including headaches, neck and back discomfort or pain, sports injuries, and provide treatment for falls, trauma, or motor vehicle accidents.
